Welcome to the Sheep dGEA

Portal Summary

Understanding tissue-specific gene expression across developmental stages in sheep is crucial, as it underpins vital processes such as organ development, immune system maturation, and growth regulation. Here, we built a high-resolution developmental Gene Expression Atlas (dGEA) in sheep by integrating new and existing data from 1,557 RNA-seq libraries generated in 51 distinct tissues across 14 developmental stages, representing early-prenatal, late-prenatal, neonate, lamb, juvenile, adult, and elderly time points. All the genome annotation files are based on Oar_rambouillet_v1.0 (Ensembl version 104). The dGEA Portal allows researchers to query gene expression across tissues and developmental stages in an easy and uniform way, which can serve as an invaluable resource for sheep genetics and genomics, selective breeding, and ruminant developmental biology and evolution.
